Featured Red and Dessert Wines

Sangiobello 2020

$47

May Wine Club 2024
Double Gold -2024 Amador County Fair
Silver – 2024 El Dorado County Wine Competition

In the small medieval village of Montalcino, located in Southern Tuscany, a red wine known as a brunello was produced as far back as the early 14th century. Centuries later, Dick Cooper planted this prized Sangiovese clone, Brunello di Montalcino, in his vineyard and today our winemaker, Mike Roser, produces a beautiful wine that we call Sangiobello from those highly regarded grapes. With aromas reminiscent of caramelized sugar, Crème Brûlée, and Grand Marnier you are lured to savor an elegant, full-bodied wine having notes of espresso and cocoa, finishing dry and spicy. Our 2020 Sangiobello will be right at home on your dinner table and pairs best with heavier dishes: braised short ribs, mushrooms or truffles, rosemary lamb chops. Bon appétit!

Barbera 2021

$36

Red Sweepstakes – 2024 SF Chronicle Wine Competition

What more could we ask for from a Cooper Barbera… big and bold, dark and rich, succulent and fabulously fragrant. The 2021 vintage is all this, and more. Visually stunning, with an opaque ruby color, the scent is luscious and complex. Dark cherry and chocolate notes combine with whispers of toffee, spice and vanilla on the palate. The finish is characteristically smooth, lush and creamy. This Barbera will warm the cockles of your heart on a cold winter’s night.

Alicante Bouschet 2020

$32

May Wine Club 2024
Double Gold/Best of Class – 2024 Amador County Fair

Berries and cherries and chocolate, oh my! Your first word after tasting this velvety, opaque beauty, will be “wonderful”. The nose offers aromas of freshly sharpened #2 pencil and whispers of something floral – maybe lilac or lavender. And don’t forget the chocolate! A creamy mouthfeel opens to beautiful berry flavors reminiscent of olallieberry. Big, chewy, warm and juicy, the finish on this 2020 Alicante Bouschet is dry and super smooth. This big wine needs big flavors to pair with such as Pasta Puttanesca or Carne Asada.

Charbono 2020

$32

May Wine Club 2024
Silver – 2024 El Dorado County Wine Competition

Virtually extinct, Charbono clings to existence on just under 100 acres in California. Don’t let the deep, dark, inky-black color of Charbono fool you into thinking this is a huge, heavy-duty wine. In reality, what we have is a very lovely, plush and plump deliciousness going on. Soft waves of blackberry, pomegranate, and spice give way to traces of sweet tobacco and smoky vanilla. Mouthwatering and beautifully balanced, with tannins on the lighter side, this 2020 Charbono was made to enjoy with food. Try with burnt ends or beef brisket, a charcuterie platter, or something with a bit of bacon like pasta carbonara or bacon burger. Delightfully delicious!

White and Rosé Wines

Blondie 2020

$33

Warm and succulent, our 2020 fusion of Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne will put a smile on your face. Lusciousness on the nose, interlaced with honeysuckle, transports you through granny smith apples, fresh pear and a soft white pepper finish. Try with scallops or mussels, or with Asian dishes that incorporate aromatics such as lemongrass and ginger. Serve slightly chilled.

Red Wines

Anniversary 2018

$77

February Wine Club

We had so much fun drinking this wine to create these tasting notes that we couldn’t remember what it tasted like! Just kidding!!! This wine is beautiful. Our latest GSM blend (20% Grenache; 40% Syrah; 40% Mourvèdre) is here after 62 months in new French Oak. Highlights include a rich, heavy and velvety nose rife with toasted sugar, and licorice and leather accents. On the palate, think See’s Candies Chocolate Bordeaux — a delicious blend of brown sugar, heavy cream, butter and coffee. Toss in some red berry nuances (cherry and tart cranberry) and you’re got it! Powerful and elegant.

Barbera Riserva 2020

$46

Gold – 2023 Foothill Wine Festival Competition

The heady aromas of our 2020 Barbera Riserva are reminiscent of Fall… caramel candy popcorn, baking spices, wood smoke, damp leaves… all smells that bring a sense of joy and nostalgia. Together with autumn flavors — dried herbs, cherry, cinnamon, vanilla — this wine, with its silky smoothness, beautiful color, and velvet mouthfeel, ushers in a season of comfort and change.

Cooper Ranch Red

$32

Silver — 2024 SF Chronicle Wine Competition

The “red tractor wine” is back, just in time for Christmas and the New Year celebration! This innovative blend of Alicante Bouschet (38%), Carignane (25%), Charbono (25%) and Barbera (12%), all 2021 vintages, is rustic yet exotic. Scents of cherry cola, clove, cinnamon, leather, pepper and sandalwood precede flavors of warm spice, black fruits and the umami characteristics of smoked meat. Soft tannins, balanced acidity and a juicy finish will have you exclaiming… a triumph, Mike Roser, another triumph. Call this one your “go to”wine and sip with a chunk of Smoked Gouda with Bacon.

Dicembre 2019

Think Black Forest Cake! Rick, deep chocolate is the perfect backdrop for luxurious cherry. This late harvest Barbera desert wine is medium-bodied with a nice dry finish, and a symphony of flavors working in perfect harmony.

Grenache 2020

$29

February Wine Club

Fresh, vibrant and delicious, our 2020 Grenache makes a grand entrance after its short but seemingly interminable hiatus. Very berry aromas, with soft floral whispers of lavender and nostalgic red rose intermingle with hints of Herbes de Provence. Characteristic strawberry, orange rind and vanilla join with suggestions of white pepper and dark cherry to create a warm and well-balanced finish. Just lovely!
